Your Design FAQ’s: Answered

Whether you’ve been a Printed Minter for a month or a year, chances are you’ve had a question about how to best use your designs with our wholesale services. While we have a FAQ page full to the brim with answers, we also wanted to hop-on the blog and create an easy reference point for some of our most asked questions. We hope this helps!

Q: How can my design have transparency if it has to be a JPEG?

A: If we require a JPEG for a particular product, it’s because it does not need or support transparency in the design file. If the product needs or supports transparency, we will require a PNG.

Q: Can I save my design files for reordering?

A: The easiest way to quickly access design files for reordering is to utilize our design file uploader’s Dropbox feature. By putting your design files in a Dropbox folder, you can access them right in the design file uploader with the click of a button!

Q: What’s the difference between a RGB and CMYK?

A: RGB stands for Red, Green and Blue + is how electronic displays, such as your computer monitor, display color. CMYK stands for Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Key and is how most printers print color. When creating artwork in software such as Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator, you have the option to work in either RGB or CMYK. With our particular printing process, it’s industry best practice to use the RGB color mode for glass, plastics, ceramics, and metals, and CMYK for fabrics.

Q: Why does my artwork appear grainy?

A: With light/faint, low saturated colors, printers lay down less ink and therefore the individual dots of ink may become more noticeable, resulting in “grainy” colors. The best way to avoid this is to use darker, more saturated colors.

Q: Do you offer product mock-ups?

A: Yep! You can download our product mockups on each product page or you can find them on the templates and mockups page, here. Printed Mint product images and mockups may be used by all active Printed Mint Registered Users.
